Overclock only for single thread performance

Hi.

I need better single thread performance. If I increase the multiplier, am I increasing only the max turbo frequency of a single core, or the base frequency of all cores, or both? How can I overlock only the max turbo boost frequency, and leave multiply core clock unchanged? So that less heat will be generated.

niexuchina: Thank you very much for joining the Intel® Processors communities. We will do our best in order to provide the information you are looking for.

In regard to your question, if you increase the multiplier you are increasing the base frequency of the processor not the Intel® max turbo boost frequency. The Intel® max turbo boost frequency works automatically depending on the load of work and it will remain the same even if you do overclocking on the unit, that is why there is no option to increase it.

On the link below you will find additional information about that feature:

Additionally, altering clock frequency or voltage may damage or reduce the useful life of the processor and other system components, and may reduce system stability and performance. Product warranties may not apply if the processor is operated beyond its specifications.

Any further questions, please let me know.
