The difference between i5 and core 2 quad?

Okay so what is the exact difference between like i3 and core duo , i5 and core 2 quad?

Would core 2 quad be better than core i3?

Can you order these in their order of goodness?

The difference is mainly a completly new architecture, that performs better, Read this http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Intel_Core it gives you an overview.

even tho i3 is more current isn't core 2 quad still stronger? expensivier? because I thought core 2 quad is in the same category as core i5?

There is absolutely no point in me ordering them in cost as you can quite easily go on any website that sells them and see it.
