XMP enabled automatically when upgrading ram

Running i7 14700 (non K). Ram was upgraded from 16gb single to 64gb dual. This triggered the ram profile to change automatically from JEDEC to XMP. No settings were changed. In fact its not possible to enable XMP on this pc. Is this change due to an Intel feature that automatically enables XMP on first boot with new dual channel ram ? ie the CPU auto-detected and enabled the XMP profile to use the new RAM's full potential ? Thx.

I would be more concerned about what your motherboard and bios are doing.
