cpu was shutdown due to a thermal event(Overheating)

When ever iam running system for an hour, the systme is shutting down and an error message "cpu was shutdown due to a thermal event(Overheating)" is coming after restart.

Please let me know how to troubleshoot it.

Iam using intel d946gz motherboard and intel p4 3 ghz.
