critical CPU temperature

Helo,

If a very high temperature affects CPU, the processor stops itself, or the computer restarts?

I'm running an Intel Core 2 Duo E8400, AMI Bios, ASUS P5KPL MB, 2GHz RAM, XP SP3 Pro.

Many thanks.

If the processor runs to hot, around 90-100 degrees Celsius, the system will shut down to prevent any damage to the processor, however if this happens very often, this could reduce the processor life cycle.
