Hello @eymn

Thank you for posting on the Intel️® communities. We would be more than glad to help you with your issue.

In order to have a better understanding of your issue, please provide me with the following:

1.      Can you provide more details about the specific games in which the i5-7500 CPU consistently exhibits high usage, especially during intense moments like finals or other demanding scenes?

2.      Have you noticed any changes in performance or high CPU usage in non-gaming scenarios, such as during regular desktop tasks or when the system is idle?

3.      Are there any recent software updates, driver installations, or changes to the system that coincided with the onset of the high CPU usage during gaming?

4.      Could you share information about the cooling solution in use for the i5-7500, including the type of cooling, its condition, and whether you've observed any temperature abnormalities?

5.      Have you monitored other system components, such as GPU usage and RAM usage, to determine if the high CPU usage is isolated to the CPU itself or if it's part of a broader system issue?

6.      Are there any background processes or applications running concurrently with the games that might be contributing to the high CPU usage? Examples could include antivirus scans, software updates, or resource-intensive applications.

7.      What are the specifications of your graphics card, and have you checked if the GPU is performing optimally during gaming sessions?

8.      Can you provide information about the power supply unit (PSU) being used, including its wattage and age, to rule out potential power delivery issues that could contribute to the CPU's high usage during gaming?

Please download and scan your system using our tool, Intel® System Support Utility so we can help check your system info first. Once finished downloading, open the tool, click on scan 'Everything', click next, then save the system information to a .txt file. Please provide the .txt file.

This document will be necessary to check your entire system, in order to find possible errors or incompatibilities.

Hello @eymn

Thank you for providing the information. Based on your response and the data in the SSU, we recommend following the guidelines outlined in the article titled "How to Fix High CPU Usage.” This article serves as a practical guide to address the issue of high CPU usage.

Regarding the overheating concern, it's important to note that temperatures below 100°C are within the expected behavior of the processor, given that the Tjunction is 100°C. However, we suggest reviewing the steps outlined in the "Overheating Symptoms and Troubleshooting for Intel® Boxed Processors" article. If the issue persists despite following all the steps, please inform us, and we will assist you in determining the next course of action.

There is a Serial I/O (SIO) driver specific to these processors; look to your system/motherboard manufacturer to provide you with this driver package.
At the same time, understand that there is support for some processor components within the Chipset Device Software package and that this package, also supplied by your system/motherboard manufacturer (and specific to your motherboard), should be installed first thing after installing Windows 10/11. I personally do not trust Windows Update to provide this properly. Since it is specific to the motherboard, I recommend installing the provided version manually.
Hope this helps,
