processor upgrade

my computer has a pentium4 2.8 processor with a 478 socket, I would like to upgrade to a core 2 duo without changing my motherboard, can this be done?

Hello,

Which board are you using?

If everything is working fine at the moment, i would advise you to update the board bios version to the latest one and then make sure to check the CPU compatibility for the board.
