The system board is an s5000pal with an e5140 processor. Attempts to run selviewer result in:
BMC communication failed.
This board has recently performed 'intermittently', i.e. it would not complete the boot process. The cpu and PS were replaced and now appears to be performaing normally. Other aspects are running normally, there has been no OS change. Selviewer worked prior to the intermittent performance.
Thanks in advance - Dan

I would suggest testing the processor on another motherboard to make sure it is defective.
If that is the case, then you might want to contact Intel local customer support center so they can assist you with any warranty option, you can find the local contact information at:

A follow on update: When the BIOS OS timere is set to 10 minutes the system auto reboots on a 10 minute cycle. This says to me the BMC is working and the issue is communication between BMC and the CPU / OS. Is this a reasonable assumption?
Thanks - Dan

Are you running in DOS. Linux or Windows?
Try DOS. It is the most basic of the tools (No dependance on other OS drivers)
The BMC "processors" is totally seperate from the main board CPU and you test is a good on to show BMC is functoning.
Another is the front pannel ID button. If the blue LED lights, BMC is running.
With your other issues, i would suspect the log may be corrupted.
Try clearing the BMC log from the BIOS set-up screen then try the SELVIEW again.
