burn two max 10 in 2 hours, someone please tell me the power on/off secquence of the altera fpga and jtag
i use 5 years xilinx and recently i want to use altera i think may be my bad habits make me burn two max10 in 2 hours 1. the usb blaster is connected with the computer, but is not connected with the PCB 2. the pcb is power off 3. i connect the usb blaster with the pcb(maybe that why i burn the fpga) 4. i power on the pcb then i can not download the sof file to the fpga.... someone please tell me: 1.what is the sequence of power on? 2.what is the sequence of power off? 3.when the usb blaster is connected both with the PCB and computer, can i power off the PCB and then POWER on it?Link Copied

You should be able to power your board on or off with a USB-Blaster connected.
Why do you think your devices are "burn"? Do they now get hot? How much power do they take? Or is it that they just don't program? Look through chapter 2 - "max 10 power management features and architecture" in the "max 10 power management user guide (https://documentation.altera.com/#/link/myt1393986555723/myt1393987293874)". Look at the "power-on reset circuitry" section - page 2-4 and figure 2-3. MAX 10 devices monitor certain rails before allowing you to program the device. VCC, VCCIO & VCCA must power up within the ramp time (Tramp). If they don't the device will not allow you to program it. Is this why you think it's not working? Cheers, Alex- Mark as New

the max10 just don't program
i tried many times, power off and then power on the device(with the usb-blaster connected), but it still can not be programmed. so i am sure that the max10 is broken.- Mark as New

Do you power rails come up as they should?

So these board did work before and now they don't. Perhaps you could have said that before.
You have two likely causes: a) You are powering the device incorrectly. Check the voltages you are using for each different VCC bank (VCCINT, VCCIO etc.) and make sure they are the right voltages. Check every GND pin is connected. or b) You are doing something to the device, through the I/O that the MAX 10 doesn't like. If you're happy to put the schematics up here I will happily have a look. Do the power supply voltages measure within the specified value (3.3v, 5v, 12v) if you power up the board?

i replace the "burned" max10 with new one, and it works well.
i connected the usb-blaster to the pcb board when the usb-blaster already connected with the PC( hot plug) i think maybe that operation break the max 10's jtag net- Mark as New

Did you solved your problem?
Your design miss the pull down on JTAG TCK line and this can be source of JTAG misfunctioning.
