Stefan did you try downloading the SDK again ? Perhaps the original download got corrupted ? Also which version of Windows were you using ?

I'm using Windows 10 fall creators update.
Meanwhile i helped myself
Uninstallation of a previous version of the SDK failed with a similar message.
I deleted registry key at HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Installer\Products\
Then i could install the new version on top of the old one.
