Hello all! I've recently ran into an issue with my 6700k... It ran great then all of a sudden I keep getting blue screens, sometimes they loop. All bugchecks are pointing to the cpu. All drivers and BIOS are up to date.
this is only one of the many bugchecks that I get daily.
UNEXPECTED_KERNEL_MODE_TRAP (7f)
This means a trap occurred in kernel mode, and it's a trap of a kind
that the kernel isn't allowed to have/catch (bound trap) or that
is always instant death (double fault). The first number in the
bugcheck params is the number of the trap (8 = double fault, etc)
Consult an Intel x86 family manual to learn more about what these
traps are. Here is a *portion* of those codes:
If kv shows a taskGate
use .tss on the part before the colon, then kv.
Else if kv shows a trapframe
use .trap on that value
Else
.trap on the appropriate frame will show where the trap was taken
(on x86, this will be the ebp that goes with the procedure KiTrap)
Endif
kb will then show the corrected stack.
Arguments:
Arg1: 0000000000000008, EXCEPTION_DOUBLE_FAULT
Arg2: fffff801968fbe70
Arg3: fffff801968f3fe0
Arg4: fffff801947d69be

Hi all!
So after all this buggering around, I'm still not sure what the issue was... but I replaced the motherboard and the psu.
I crashed once, then checked my windows activation, I have a lifetime key... you'd think it would activate? nooo. so after dealing with that I haven't crashed in 6hours.
so, it was either windows being a turd or a bad board.
Thanks allot for all the help!
Nick.

Hi again!
It seems the crashes have continued, I must have gotten lucky when the machine didn't crash.
Last thing to replace is the cpu... How would I go about the RMA of it? I don't think I have the original packaging anymore....
Thank you!
