Hello Dhoaks:
The Intel® i7-6700 processor could reach a temperature of 71°C inside the case and that is expected, here you can confirm that information
http://ark.intel.com/products/88196/Intel-Core-i7-6700-Processor-8M-Cache-up-to-4_00-GHz?q=Intel%C2%AE%20Core%E2%84%A2%20i7-6700%20Processor%20(8M%20Cache,%20up%20to%204.00%20GHz) http://ark.intel.com/products/88196/Intel-Core-i7-6700-Processor-8M-Cache-up-to-4_00-GHz?q=Intel%C2%AE%20Core%E2%84%A2%20i7-6700%20Processor%20(8M%20Cache,%20up%20to%204.00%20GHz)
The first symptoms of overheating, are that the PC will get freeze, it will start to throttle, and then if it reaches 90 or 95 it will go off by itself, if that has not happen yet, then the PC should be fine.
We do have a tool that is the one we rely on:
https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/19792/Intel-Processor-Diagnostic-Tool https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/19792/Intel-Processor-Diagnostic-Tool
It does an overall test on the processor, including the temperature, once the test is done, you can look for the option that says File, then View file report, and you will the results.
Please attach that file to the thread so we can see it as well.
In regard to drivers, the drivers belong to the board, so you can always get the latest ones from MSI's web site just select the type of Windows® you are using:

Hello Dhoaks:
I just wanted to check if the information above was useful for you, and if the problem with the processor temperature was fixed or is still happening?
Any questions, please let me know.
Alberto
