I have conflicting reports of an E8600 (775 pin) CPU running ok on Windows 8.1. I am unable to find the answers I need from Microsoft nor Gigabyte sites. The mobo uses chip set P45. I am trying to continue using this old box and will do a clean install. Particularly, does this CPU support PAE, NX, and SSE2...a requirement for 8.1.

Hello lfh003,
You might refer to http://ark.intel.com/products/35605 this to get detail information of Intel Core 2 Duo E8600 processor. This processor, E8600, does support PAE, NX and SSE2...everything (but nested paging) which Windows 8.1 requires! It is an eligible processor for Windows 8.1.
