Hello everyone,

I want to upgrade my i5-3210M but I need to be sure the processor I buy is compatible with my laptop. How can I be certain that I am buying the right one?

Is the Intel Core i7-3632QM compatible with my system?

I have a series 5 samsung laptop. The motherboard name according to everest is Samsung NP500P4C-T03CL. Can someone help me find the best option?

Well, I contacted them (Samsung) they first said the processor can't be replaced because it's fixed to the mother board. I gently opened it and it's not so I sent them the pictures y this is what they said: (it's in spanish but mainly they say ok, these are the compatible processors)

I do not recommend upgrading to any of the processors. This laptop is old enough that upgrading will have little benefit and support.

Upgrade only of you want the experience of doing so.

You can compare all of those processors here:

http://ark.intel.com/compare/53476,71670,71458,65708,67355 Intel® Product Specification Comparison

However, before you do anything you must contact Samsung and ask them what processors are supported by their BIOS. An upgrade processor must be socket, BIOS, and chipset compatible. And, even that is not enough. Your processor cannot be soldered to the motherboard.

Now, you are on Windows 10. None of these processors are going to provide you with any real improvement in performance or graphics on a laptop of that age. You would be far better off by purchasing a new (or newer) laptop, in my opinion.

Actually, I'd love to upgrade the whole computer but I can't now so, I was wondering if I could install a better processor for now.

Only if the processor is socketed and the Samsung bios supports the new processor. Contact Samsung for such information.

Hi Stubbleman,

If you are thinking to upgrade the processor, Doc is right about this, the motherboard BIOS should be able to handle the new processor, even the motherboard socket requires to be compatible.

The link http://www.cpubenchmark.net http://www.cpubenchmark.net is a CPU benchmark website that may help choosing the best processor for your computer.

Also, you can check and compare processor features at http://ark.intel.com http://ark.intel.com

Based on the list you got from Samsung, I would choose one with the newest technology.

IVY bridge(22nm)

Intel® Core™ i3 Processor 3110M (2.40 GHz, 3 MB L3 Cache)

Intel® Core™ i5 Processor 3210M (2.50 GHz, 3 MB L3 Cache)

Intel® Core™ i7 Processor 3610QM (2.50 GHz, 3 MB L3 Cache)

Allan.
