Intel Driver and Support Assistant Error 0x80072EFF

Hi, I'm trying to update my drivers on my HP SPECTRE x360 15-ch0xx running Windows 11.

The Intel driver and support assistant says installation failed. Unknown issue with installation. 0x80072EFF.

Hello Jami,  


Thank you for posting on the Intel® communities. I can imagine how frustrating this situation is for you.


Based on your issue, I would like you to try the following:


1. Try to disable the antivirus, at least for the installation process.

2. If possible, disable your VPN.

3. You can also try this:

  1. Access Device Manager, then expand the Display Adapters option.
  2. Right-click the Intel graphics driver and select Update Driver.
  3. Click Browse my computer for drivers.
  4. Select Let me pick from all of the available drivers on my computer.
  5. If no older drivers are stored in the system, select Microsoft Basic Display Adapter, Standard VGA Graphics Adapter or something similar, then click Next.
  6. Once an older driver is set, update the driver from IDSA.
  7. Reboot the system for installation to take effect.

4. For errors regarding write error:

  1. Follow steps 1 to 4 then proceed to do the following:
  2. After selecting Let me pick from all of the available drivers on my computer, look for the latest driver on the list.
  3. Click next and IDSA should show that all the drivers are up-to-date.
