Maximum allowable DRAM for Dell Inspiron 15 N5050

I’ve seen two different numbers for the maximum allowable RAM for my laptop.  It runs a Core i3-2330M at 2.2 GHz.  Intel gives me one number: (16 GB)

https://ark.intel.com/content/www/us/en/ark/products/53434/intel-core-i3-2330m-processor-3m-cache-2-...

Dell gives me another number: (8 GB)

https://www.dell.com/community/Laptops-General-Read-Only/Increase-RAM-DELL-INSPIRON-N5050/td-p/40314...

Crucial agrees: (8 GB)

Maybe there’s something I’m missing.  I would appreciate any help.

Thank you.
