New HTPC - G3240 with W8.1 - No audio to plasma TV with HDMI

Hello,

I am unable to get any audio through my TV from my HTPC that I constructed a few days ago. The connection is via a HDMI cable. The system is a Intel G3240 CPU on an ASrock B85M-ITX motherboard running on Windows 8.1. Ive tried to install the Realtek Audio drivers several times and restarted the PC several times. Unplugged the HDMI cable on the TV end. On Control Panel->Sound the Digital Audio (HDMI) option is greyed out with 'Not Plugged In" displayed underneath. Ive connected some 2.1 computer speakers to test with and they have worked. The Realtek Digital Output is the default and only available device. I have run out of options, can anyone help? Ive tried to update the drivers through the download centre but nothing is available as the automatic search says the device is unknown or unsupported.

Hello jc258,

I am sorry you are having this problem with your system but let me help you.

We have received reports from other customers that are having problems with the Audio through HDMI connection but we have found the solution for this.

Please note that it is necessary to update the graphics driver to the latest. You can download the latest driver at the following link:

https://downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_Desc.aspx?agr=Y&DwnldID=23714 https://downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_Desc.aspx?agr=Y&DwnldID=23714

It is also important to install the latest BIOS update for the system. We have been told by customers that they had to request the BIOS update to the Computer Manufacture because the one that fixes the problem is not available to download.

Hello Kevin,

Thanks for the reply! I had previously updated the BIOS, but updating the graphics driver was the key! I had trouble finding it. Thanks for the solution!
