Hello! bought intel core i9 13900kf 9 months worked perfectly, recently it started getting very hot (I changed the thermal paste) It got to the point where it heats up to 100C and just turns off. I want to get service so that you can either repair the processor or replace it, what do I need for this? I live in Ukraine.

Hello Elladier,

Thanks for confirming the information asked for. Based on this issue, I would like to gather the following details to better assist you:

1. Run and attach the report from the Intel® Processor Diagnostic Tool:

2. What is the brand and model name of your motherboard?

3. What is the BIOS version installed?

4. What is the brand and model name of your cooling solution (fans)?

5. Where are you seeing these temperatures (task manager, Intel® XTU, 3rd party tool)?

6. Can you take a picture of the temperatures you are getting?

Hello Elladier,

Thanks for the report and the information provided. In this case, your processor supports up to 100°C and any temperature below it is normal and expected. From your picture, I can see that your temperature is 55°C-77°C and some cores seem to be at 100% usage, but this could be expected depending on the tasks/background app running at the moment.

1. Can you take a new picture of the temperatures where I can see them at 100°C?

2. What is the name of the tool you used to measure these temperatures? The one you show in Discord.

3. Did you test with a different CPU, maybe at the place of purchase tech team?

  1. I can't take a new photo because I'm experiencing blue screens in my Windows upon any reboot. Games consistently crash, and applications close every 5-10 minutes. For instance, when I'm in Discord screen sharing, there is a spike in CPU usage, and all applications either shut down or result in a blue screen. The error messages are always different, and I've thoroughly checked everything on my PC. I've replaced the RAM, power supply, graphics card, M.2 SSD, and even the motherboard. However, the issue persists whenever there's a load spike, resulting in some kind of error. There are no viruses on my computer, and I've rolled back and installed the most up-to-date drivers. I've spent quite a bit of time trying to resolve this problem.

  2. The tool is called Speedfan.

  3. I haven't tried with a different CPU because I don't have the means to test with another processor.

Hello Elladier,

Thanks for the confirmation. Before I continue further, I would like to check if you already tried these recommendations:

1. Do you see any LED or beep from the motherboard when the crashes occur?

2. Check fan operation. Check to see if a cable is dislodged, something is blocking the impeller, or the fan power source has failed.

3. Check the thermal interface materials. Inspect for CPU heatsink thermal interface material (TIM) degradation.

4. Try to load the default BIOS setting in your system.

5. Check for any dust on the fans. Check to make sure that the intake vents and exhaust vents are clear of dust and lint.

6. Undo any recent changes that might have caused the overheating problem.

Best regards,

  1. The red CPU indicator lights up for just a few seconds and then turns off. I have ensured that the radiator on the CPU is securely attached, and the thermal paste (TIM) has been replaced, and they are in good condition. The CPU fan is operational and connected to the appropriate slot on the motherboard. I have also confirmed that the cooling system is free from dust and debris, and the fans are working reliably.

  2. I don't have any issues with the fans. I regularly monitor their condition and maintain the cooling system.

  3. I replaced the TIM and confirmed that they are in good condition.

  4. I have also applied default BIOS settings, but it didn't help resolve the overheating issue.

  5. There are no problems with dust or debris on the fans and ventilation openings.

  6. I have reverted any recent changes that might have caused the overheating problem.

Hello Elladier,

I am sorry for the misunderstanding, this was a different community user. Based on the investigation, I would like you to try this:

1. If possible, run the AVX2 test in the Intel® Extreme Tuning Utility (Intel® XTU). If the test failed, check the 2nd step.

2. Change BIOS settings:

  • Advanced (F7)
  • AI Tweaker > SVID Behavior: Change to “Intel’s Fail Safe”

3. Reboot the operating system and run the Intel® XTU test again and let me know if the AVX2 test passes.

4. Provide a picture from Intel® XTU showing voltages and temperatures.

First of all, Intel does not offer any servicing options. Intel offers a replacement warranty. That is, if the processor has failed, you have it replaced using an RMA process.

After verifying that your warranty is still active (here: Determine if Your Product Is Still Under Warranty), you need to directly contact Intel Customer Support to initiate the RMA process (you cannot do this here). You can start here: Contact Intel Support or use this page: Intel Support Phone Directory to look up local/country phone numbers.

You can use the online forms service or email to initiate this process, but I recommend calling Intel directly. The above link provides local or toll-free numbers for most countries and these numbers provide support for most local languages. You could also use the chat service (start here: Intel Customer Support Chat), but understand that this service is offered only in English and is subject to the normal (9:00-5:00 M-F) office hours in the Pacific (UTC-8) time zone.

Hope this helps,

I live in Ukraine, but the support number for my country is listed for Russia. Is this a joke?

Hello Elladier,

I could see that we have created an internal case where you are currently being assisted with the warranty process. please kindly refer to that case for more updates on this behavior.

In this case, we will proceed to close this thread to avoid duplication of effort and the support will continue through the internal case.

Best regards,
