Socket 603, Socket 604 etc etc. Anyone know where there is a list of processors that fall into each socket type?

Hi there,

Processors that come for socket 603 or 604 are generally Xeons. Socket-603 supports a 400MHz FSB The Socket-604 supports a 533Mhz FSB. These two types of sockets are commonly called Micro-FCPGA.

This is the link where you may be able to find the list of those processors: http://processorfinder.intel.com/List.aspx?ParentRadio=All&ProcFam=528&SearchKey=BX80528KL150GD

You can filter the results by Manufacturing technology: 0.18 micron will give you socket 603 processors whereas 0.13 micron will give you socket 604 processors.

Hope this will be useful to you.

Cheers.

Hi and many thanks for the reply. If 0.13micron = socket 604 then according to the table, SL65T should be socket 604.

From what I have read, this CPU (socket 604) therefore should NOT fit into a Socket 603 due to it having an extra pin.I had tried upgrading my DELL PRECISION 530 from dual 1.7GHz to dual 2.4GHz using these SL65T cpus but this did not work. During power up the BIOS reported..."processsor not supported"..."System Halted". The processors had apparently been pulled from another DELL PRECISION 530. Very strange! I then installed them on a COMPAQ EVO W6000 and this worked instantly. Both machines are supposed to be SOCKET 603. I am now looking at upgrading my DELL Precision 530 to 2.6GHz cpus, possibly using SL6VM processors which I am told are Socket 603 but again the table is showing these as 0.13micron ieSocket 604??? Is it possible that the 013micron does not mean Socket 604 ie maybe the micron is not a clear indicator of socket type?? This takes me round a full circle All I want to do is upgrade the existing Socket 603 XEON processors from 1.7Ghz. If it works on the Compaq then why is it a problem on the Dell? There has to be a an easy to understand logical answer. I hope this makes sense. Thanks. Regards, J.

There are 0.13 micron socket 603 processors. To see all socket 603 or 604 processors go to CPU-World's CPU chart (link below) and select either socket 603 or socket 604 in the "Socket" field:
