My laptop is overheating. I have installed a new fan and replaced the thermal paste .. still overheating !! ..
I have just ran an IDPT check and it FAILED "Base Clock Test" .. "detected base clock 999999999 ..... also FAILED .. "CPU Frequency Test" ...
My question is .. can I fix the problems or do I have to fit a new CPU ..... Also, can these errors cause the CPU to overheat ? ... Many thanks

If you are facing issues with a mobile processor; generally, they are handled by the computer maker since they have integrated all the computer components for your computer model.
You could try updating the computer BIOS and see if corrects misreading CPU temperatures or try contacting the computer maker for further assistance.
