Hi,

does anyone know where i can download the example fir_filter design used in this example? I cannot find it anywhere.

http://www.altera.com/literature/ug/ug_tq_tutorial.pdf

Or does someone know a better tutorial?

Cheers,

Tim

p5 says "For this tutorial, use the fir_filter design that ships with the Quartus® II software" ...

Looks like it was there in 12.1 ...

C:\software\altera\12.1sp1_free\quartus\qdesigns\fir_filter

If you have a newer version, and its not there, let me know, and I'll zip the folder and post it.

Rysc has written some nice tutorials and posted them on the Altera Wiki

http://www.alterawiki.com/wiki/timequest_user_guide

I wrote an example on using multi-cycle constraints here ...

p5 of the PDF has links to the TimeQuest resources I typically use.

Hey Dave,

yes you were right. In Quartus version 13.0 it is in the same exact location. I thought i may be shipped with a CD, forgetting that i downloaded Quartus...

And thanks much for the other guides.

The TimeQuest_User_Guide seems to be pretty detailed i will definitely have a look now.

Hi,

I know this is an old thread, but I'll re-post if I have to.

I am also new to FPGAs. I am now learning about TimeQuest. I got the tutorial mentioned above, the Timequest Quick Start Tutorial. It was created in 2009, for Software version 9.1. I know we are in 2015, Quartus II 14.1.1, but hey that's what Altera provides... Should I just ignore this tutorial??

With that you also get the Fir_Filter example that they tell you to use. Which I have.

So I open the design. It gives me a warning saying that Cyclone devices are not supported (I have QII web edition). I press ok. Then it says the project settings are read only...

One of the first thing the tutorial tells you to do is to compile it. Well it does NOT compile. Apparently because it is set to use Cyclone family devices...! I can't change to another device because... project setting are read only files...!

Can anyone help with this?

Thanks.

Read Rysc's tutorial/user guides from the Altera Wiki, they're the most useful documents, and then apply that knowledge to your own specific example.

You can probably still use the Altera tutorial, but just go through it using a newer device, eg., a Cyclone IV.

I have some TimeQuest analysis in documents posted here ...

Take a look at the Quad SPI Flash tutorial and source.
