I am contacting you regarding a Gigabyte Z890 AERO G motherboard on which I have set up a RAID 1 array with two NVMe SSDs using Intel VMD / Intel RST.
The RAID volume is detected correctly and Windows 11 LTSC boots up fine from it. In Device Manager, the Intel controllers are clearly listed:
Intel RST VMD Controller AD0B
Intel RST VMD Managed Controller 09AB
Driver: 20.2.6.1025
The RstMwService.exe file is also present in version 20.2.6.1025.
However, the Intel Rapid Storage Technology / Intel Optane Memory and Storage Management application consistently displays the error: 0xA00906B3
The Intel(R) Storage Middleware Service / RstMwService is set to start automatically, but it does not remain running. The Intel(R) Rapid Storage Technology Mail Service also fails as it depends on the Middleware service.
I have already tried:
reinstalling the Intel IRST driver provided on the Gigabyte support page;
installing the Intel application via the Microsoft Store;
checking the VMD/RAID BIOS settings;
checking the driver/service versions.
Could you please advise on the recommended procedure to ensure the Intel RST monitoring tool works correctly on Windows 11 LTSC, or confirm whether there is a known incompatibility with this version of Windows?
If this is not possible, is there a solution—even via the command line—to check the RAID status to determine whether it is rebuilding or in degraded mode, the aim being to obtain basic RAID information?

Hello Francois44,
Thank you for posting your query on the Intel Community Forum!
I hope you are doing well.
Thank you for sharing the detailed information regarding your RAID configuration and the behavior observed on Windows 11 LTSC. We understand that while the RAID volume is functioning correctly, the Intel RST management application is displaying error 0xA00906B3 and the Intel Storage Middleware Service is not remaining active.
As a next step, we kindly request you to reboot the system and check if there are any changes in the application behavior.
