I have updated drivers and RST software but continue to see intermittent SMART event for 16 GB Disk Cache SSD (SanDisk). The event usually clears itself after a number of minutes. Is this an incompatibility due to the age of the rig I am using or precursor to drive failure?

JRand_, Thank you for posting in the Intel® Communities Support.
In reference to your inquiry, if you are seeing SMART events in the Intel® Rapid Storage Technology application it is actually the tool letting you know that the SSD is at risk.
In this case, if you need to verify the integrity of the SSD, what we recommend is to get in contact directly with the manufacturer of it to get a tool validated by them to check the status of the SSD. If you are using a RAID configuration, you might need to disable it to test the SSD, please back up all the important information before doing any changes.
Any questions, please let me know.
Regards,
Albert R.
