About GMA 500 Driver Development

I have a simple question: will the driver for the GMA500 support WDDM 1.1? The hardware is DX10.1 capable, but lacks driver support.Vista GMA500 driver is not compatible with Win7, using it leads to a lot of bsod in many operations. With wddm 1.1 memory usage for the dwm hopefully will be reduced, and maybe willget a better 2d acceleration, useful for flash apps. As a last chance, if wddm 1.1 support is not planned, will wddm 1.0 Vista driver be patched to work well under Win7?

Win7 driver development is in act, and they are working a lot, but they have started just this summer. They found tons of problem to fix in very build. GMA500 Windows gfx team has started working on OGL support. Based on my knowledge OGL 2.0 is being targeted for Win7 OS driver. For Linux OS driver version, already OGL 2.0 support is available.

Intel's GMA500 Driver's Download Page
They are the latest at the moment, for Xp, 7, and Vista. (19 March 2010)

Hope this will work.

Ok, But if there working so hard why does it still take them 6 months for on a driver that still may not be all that good when ATI and NVDIA can get graphics drivers out in as little as six weeks. Dont even get me started on the fact that the linux drivers have not been updated in a year and a half, plus they cant even ship there on driver with meego. What a waste of our time.

I think this thread should be closed since intel never listens to its customers and just provides useless crap. Lets just all sell our netbooks and nettops and buy Nvidia ion 2 netbooks.

OK this is becoming ridiculous, Intel has yet to release a fully working driver to support our chip set and I'm fed up with it, people please, help me pressure Intel into doing something about this, for god sakes they have had 2 years to do something with the pitiful drivers and have done nothing! I have Windows 7 and I decided to download Appup today, and let me tell ya, almost every game that requires 3D excel Is Unplayable!!!!!!! I mean come on! All the software in The catalog Is supposed to work with ALL Intel Atom based net books Not just the ones with Intel GMA 950 Graphics cards! This is totally ridiculous and Intel has me to the point that I will never Buy another One of THEIR products again unless they fix this monstrosity.

or u set the BIOS firstly then update the driver of the motherboard

However, after installing the GMA-drivers my driver status still states the previous version, 8.10.14.2020, from 18-12-2009 to be installed, which is strange.
I've re-downloaded it and reinstalled it a couple of times just to make sure I made no inadvertant mistake or something.

Any idea why this is so?

My computer is a Eee pc 1101ha, maybe these latest drivers doesn't fit this kind of computer or someting?

It happens sometimes with ATI video drivers that they forget to update version string in the .INF file. You can check whether version string is the same by comparing .INF from the previous driver version with the new one, and you can also check the version of other driver files (that can be seen in device manager under Display Adapter properties).

The Win7 GMA 600 driver seems to have OpenGL support already. Although the GMA 600 has the same PowerVR SGX 535 core the GMA 500 has, the driver does only support GMA 600 (unlike EMGD driver). Is there any plan to update the ~half year old GMA 500 driver with the new features/bugfixes?

Hello,
For everyone interested in this topic : Intel has finally released in July 2011 a good GMA500 driver for Windows 7, driver version 2048. It comes with the following features :
- hibernation working
- DXVA / DXVA2 hardware acceleration
- D3D 10.1 and up
- Aero
- OpenGL 2.0 hardware accelerated !

Everything was working fine in my tests. You can get it on the Intel EMGD site.
Finally, thanks Intel !

i'm so sorry to resume this old thread but i'm investigating about an issue with opengl icd 2.0 included in emgd and win8.1; windows 8.x fully support emgd driver but opengl icd doesn't respect the os request and isn't available. There is any way to upgrade opengl library?
