For a while I've been trying to get my laptop to display 1440x900 or 1280x800 resolution like it does fine in Linux, but Windows will not let me. I've tried XP, Vista, DTD editing, changing res to odd numbers, etc etc, but it all failed.
Today I hooked up a beamer on the 2nd VGA output (the beamer isn't even switched on), and all of a sudden my internal laptop display was capable of using 1440x900 & the other DTD's I put in there. Once I took out the VGA cable Windows forced 1680x1050 and nothing else.
Now, I am wondering what is going on that all of a sudden it will let me use this resolution, and more importantly how can I fake it?
