Bug in Intel GMA Software

Okay, well I had this problem before and I just reinstalled Windows to fix it, but now its back. I cannot play ANY video files, which seems to occur after I use the "Schemes" feature available in the software that comes with my Intel Graphics Driver, though I am not sure if this is the cause. What I do know is that once I uninstall my graphics drivers and let it go back to the default "Video Controller" thing windows has I do not have this problem, but it comes back right when I reinstall my drivers. The graphics card I am using is the Mobile Intel 915GM/GMS, 910GML Express Chipset Family by the way. Is there any way to fix this problem?

NOTE: I added the following paragraph after I figured out the problem

It seems when you use the schemes option available in the Intel GMA software and apply a scheme it changes your Video Overlay settings so Brightness, Contrast, and Saturation are 0. I am not sure what Video Overlay means, but this affects all video playing. I thought I would share this just in case anyone runs into this problem and to ask if there is a way I can contact Intel about this bug.

I can confirm this bug. I'm having the exactly the same problem as described above on my Fujitsu P1510 Tablet PC.

Here's some information from the driver (the latest version available on your site):

I can confirm the same problem is occurring on a Fujitsu-Siemens Amilo Pro V2085. I regularly switch between graphics schemes (notebook only, notebook + external monitor, and tv only).

Exactly the same symptoms. All 4 x settings in Video Overlay ("Overlay Settings") dialog are set to 0, causing all video playback to appear as completely black screen.

I got the exact same problem. I have an external monitor that I connect to when I'm at the office so I use the schemes functionality to switch it on an off as my primary monitor. I couldn't find a Video Overlay section in the settings, but in the Color Correction tab, I hit the Restore Defaults button, which seemed to fix it. Thanks for posting to this thread, it made my night!

In case someone else runs into this issue, here's how I was able to fix it for my computer:
(This assums that you already have a set of 'schemes' setup)

1. Change to the scheme that you want to use (right click on the tray icon and use 'select scheme') .
2. Go into 'Graphics properties'
3. Click on 'Video Overlay' (if this is the same bug as above, you should see that all of the values are set to 0)
4. Click 'Restore defaults', then click 'Apply', then click 'Ok'
5. Click on 'Scheme Options'
6. In the 'Select a scheme' section, select the scheme that you are currently on
7. Click on 'save'

Now, when you switch to this scheme, all of the video overlay settings should be set to the correct value. Note that you'll have to do this for all 'schemes' that you use.

Cheers,
Marc
