C++ Compiler Professional Edition for Windows serial number invalid

I've been trying to install the Intel C++ Compiler Professional Edition for Windows* product. I have a license file (good to June 2010) and a serial number from the Intel Product Registartion Center. I've downloaded the product installer, but it doesn't recognize the serial numberI give it when asked or claims that I'm not allowed to install the product. Any suggestions?

I've downloaded the 11.1, update 4 version twice and gotten another copy of the license file, all from the registration center, so I'm stumped on what I might be doing wrong at my end. Do I need to first remove all the tools (compiler, TBB, MKL, etc.) previously installed on my system that are included in this package?

Thanks.

Clay,

Have you tried the option to provide the complete path to the license file?

If you already have your license file from the email you received when you registered, you may skip to line 2.
1. Register the serial number at the Intel Software Development Products Registration Center <<<>>> web site.
Note: You will receive an email within 24 hours with a license file attached. If you do not receive this email, contact us <<<>>>.
2. Copy the license file to the default system directory where the product will be installed. Example License file location:
On Windows* \Program Files\Common Files\Intel\Licenses\
On Linux* /opt/intel/licenses/
On MAC* /Users/Shared/Library/Application Support/Intel/Licenses
3. Start the installation again.
4. Select Choose Alternative Activation on the Activation Options Window, then click Next;
5. Select Use a license file on the Advanced Activation window, then click Next;
6. Provide the complete path to the license file and include the license file name in the path.
For example:
On Windows* c:\Program Files\Common Files\Intel\Licenses\your license.lic
On Linux /opt/intel/licenses/your license.lic
On MAC* /Users/Shared/Library/Application Support/Intel/Licenses/your license.lic
7. Select Full installation or custom installation upon your needs, click Next.
The installation should then proceed normally.
Regards,
Chuck

Chuck -

Inputting the file name by hand didn't work (maybe I had the wrong slashes?), but when I used the "Browse" button to find the license file, it all started to install. I'm pretty sure I had tried all that a couple of times before I turned to the forums.

Weird.

Thanks for the help.

Clay,

Good to hear. Glad you got it going by whatever means. The secret here is to provide the "Complete Path".

Some just point to the folder, which doesn't always work. Especially if there are other license files in the folder.
