Hello,
Are you using creative camera which came with PerC SDK 2013? If that is the case it won't work with the RealSense SDK (RSSDK). You have to get the RealSense Camera for RSSDK and you can reserve that at http://click.intel.com/intelr-realsensetm-developer-kit.html.
There are some sample apps (with source code) that demonstrate you how to use RSSDK to code JavaScript apps to do face/hand tracking, gesture recognition etc... and they all come with your RSSDK installation.

There is a lot of confusion at the moment. The situation at this point in time is:
1 The Creative GestureCam is available but is only supported by the Intel Perceptual Computing SDK which is no longer available from Intel.
2 The Intel RealSense 3D camera is not available yet however the Intel RealSense SDK 2014 for Windows Beta is available.
So if you have a GestureCam you need to use the PerC and if you want to use the RealSense SDK there is currently no hardware available to test your work. Just be aware of this.

Intel's recent opinion on this subject was that the 2013 Senz3D cam will apparently work with the 2014 SDK with some of its functions such as emotion and speech recognition, object tracking, face tracking and synthesis. What will not work with the 2013 cam are features that use depth analysis and infra-red feeds, as these are RealSense cam features.
Some people say they have seen release notes stating that the 2014 SDK is totally incompatible with the 2013 cam. I haven't seen those, so can only speak for the information above that was provided by Intel's representative.
There is indeed a lot of confusion about this topic!

Hi Marty,
Agreed. And of course there is the Haswell requirement for the SDK yet Intel state:
Coming to Intel® Core™ and Intel® Atom™ processor-based tablets running both Microsoft Windows* and Android*, is the advanced technology that makes this possible: the Intel RealSense 3D camera.
If you’re a software developer, look for the following capabilities in a future version of the Intel RealSense software development kit (SDK).
Of course it could be that the SDK requires Haswell for certain applications that will not be supported on Android.

Yes, it could be that the SDK needs certain technologies that are not needed in the final exported application. This is quite common with development engines. It's kinda like how Android applications can be written on a PC in dev environments like Eclipse and Android Studio, but those packages aren't needed for the final compiled application to work on the actual tablet.

Hi,
SoftKinetic, May I know this SDK can support Depth scanning for face tracking? (or for example can I use this SDK to find the distance between user head and camera by IR sensor?)
Thanks
Majid
