DFCOM Probem

We are using com to transfer data to and from VB. We have had a stable code on NT, but now have tried to move the code to Windows 2000. We are getting an access error in the DFCOM subroutine. An access violation occurs on the call to MBConvertUnicodetoMB line. Any ideas on how to fix this problem.
