Installing Intel Parallel Studio

Hello,

I have been trying to install Intel Parallel Studio XE update 1, but when I put in my serial number I get the message:

"Registration failed for unknown reason. Please go to
www.intel.com/software/products/support/ for your support options."

I have tried looking through the different topics here, but whenever somebody has this issue the response is always "send a private message and we will help", and therefore I don't know the solution. When I go on the website, there is no online chat to ask a technical question. Is there anybody who can help, please?!

Hello,

I can help you with this.  The installation process needs to update your license with the host ID of your machine, and it is unable to do this.  Do you have internet access from that machine, or any reason it couldn't connect to the registration server?  You can manually update the host ID in the registration center by following this process:  https://software.intel.com/en-us/articles/how-do-i-get-a-license-file-for-an-offline-installation-of-intel-parallel-studio-xe-2016

Let me know if you are able to update your license or have other concerns.

Thank you,

Jennifer

Hi Jennifer,

I am connected to the internet, but I have no idea why it would not be able to connect to the registration server. Do I need to manually go through the process of updating the host ID, or is there a way I can make it work since I DO have internet access?

Thanks!

I got it to install offline-- just not sure what I had to do it that way, since I was connected to the internet.

Anyway, thanks for the help!

I checked your account to see if there might be an issue there, but didn't find anything.  Other people who have had this problem were using 2016 licenses with older products, which do not provide the host ID although the license requires it, so the ID must be entered manually.  The 2016 product releases shouldn't require this step.  To verify, were you installing the 2016 version of Parallel Studio XE Cluster Edition?

Hi Jennifer,

I was installing the 2015 edition. This is what I downloaded last month, and have just gotten around to installing yesterday. It works now, I just had to install it offline. I followed to instructions you sent to retrieve a license file. Still not sure what was the issue, but I'm glad it works.

Ah, I had thought you were installing the 2016 version.  Versions prior to 2016 do not check the host ID, so it must be entered manually for a 2016 license.  I'm glad you have it working now.  I will close this issue - any others issues should be posted in a new thread.
