Intel G45 Driver HDMI Problem

This is a repeat of a post I started over at AVS Forum regarding the G45 chipset on the Giga-byte motherboard. In short, I've installed the very latest Intel drivers for the chipset and while I get decent graphics capability, I am having substantial audio problems. To wit, when the pc boots up (Core2Duo chip with Windows Ultimate 64), I get recognition of the HDMI port and an initial sound (typical windows start up sound). However, after about 1 minute, the pc "decides" that the HDMI cable is no longer plugged in and disables it. It then defaults to the spdif connection for HD audio. Sounds like some kind of driver conflict but I haven't been able to get it to work (despite uninstalling the HD audio from Realtek).

Any thoughts as to error resolution or a work around?

Many thanks,

John
