Intel R200: Supported CPUs

I'm new to RealSense and noticed the Intel® RealSense™ Camera (R200) depends on some of the latest Intel CPUs. I'm a bit curious, why is this a requirement? Does the R200 hardware, driver or software need to use a new Intel Management Engine feature that was "recently" added?

Generally, recommending the latest processors helps people to make the most of RealSense by using the best tech available rather than less capable legacy hardware.  It has been proven that the cameras will work with non-recommended hardware such as AMD processors and hobby-boards like Arduino, but when using non-recommended processors it's something of an unknown how many of the features will work on that chip.  Whereas using the recommended chips ensures that you will have access to RealSense's full feature set.

An affordable way to get test hardware that uses the latest Core M and Atom Cherry Trail chips recommended for the R200 is Intel's new version of the Intel Compute Stick "PC on a stick", which as USB 3.0 and a Core M or Cherry Trail CPU.
