Sorry if this is posted in the wrong place, but I'm not sure where else to turn. I have working versions of the latest version of intel fortran compiler and intel C++ compilers for Linux (64 bit).
For a specific software package to compile however, I need versions 9.0 of both of these compilers. I have downloaded these from Intel, however the license files it gives me will not work when I try to install both intel FC and intel CC. Both the license file method and the serial number method fail.
Using the serial number method I get:
[cpp]Setup may attempt to connect to the Intel Registration Center to validate your Serial Number. This may take several minutes depending on your network. Please wait... You may press Ctrl+C to cancel. ====================================================================== Invalid Serial Number: You entered an invalid serial number The Intel Software Setup Assistant could not confirm your serial number. [/cpp]
I'm not sure where I can find the appropriate license files/serial numbers for version 9.0. Any ideas? Thanks very much for your help.

Final 9.1 versions are much better than 9.0.

Greetings,
Please use the license file to install older version of the products.
The older versions willn't recognise the serial number of newer versions, but will recognize the license file.
//License File can be resend to yourself from Intel Registration Center. Please also read the minimum software requirements from Release Notes , as that could vary a lot when you move between versions.
Get back to us if you still get errors.
Thank You

Thank you for your response. I tried installing from the license file, and I get the following message:

But today, I don't see the option for old versions, it only lets me download the current versions.

I believe that that page has always (?) had only the current version. Once you register your serial number at the Intel Registration Center, you can select an older version from the Registration Center using the version selector dropdown box.

The Intel Software Setup Assistant could not confirm your serial number.
Your serial number can be found in either of the following locations:
* E-mail confirmation regarding your purchase or evaluation.
[This e-mail includes links to download the product]
* Inside product packaging.
[A label is affixed to the inside of the CD case that includes
the name of the product and the serial number]
Intel Technical Support.
Note: Serial Number will be in XXXX-XXXXXXXX format. If you do not have a
serial number, you can contact your reseller or Intel Technical Support.

Sorry about that, but I've tried it with the correct license file (i.e. making sure to use the file with the _CPP_ in the license filename for the C++ installation and the _FOR_ for the Fortran installation) - and I still get the same error.

Thanks very much for your help. (I've also tried the license file for the Compiler Suite (8K), with similar results).

Hi Again,
I have attached the screen shots (file link above) for helping you download the old version of the product.
I have also resend you your Intel Fortran compiler license file. Please use the license file attached to the e-mail and let us know if the Fortran compiler install is successful.
Thank You

Thanks very much for your help. I was able to figure out how to download old versions of the compiler, thanks.
I tried with the license file you sent me and got the same error as before - just to make sure I could actually get the license file to work (previously i have always just used the serial number to register intel compilers) - I downloaded version 11.0 of the fortran compiler and tried installing it using the license file, and it worked. I then tried with 10.0 and 9.1 and it didn't work
With 10.0 the error was :
===============================================================================
Invalid license file
Please make sure that the file you provided at /home/syeganeh/NCOM_L_CMP_FOR_****-******FB.lic is a valid license file with active support for the Intel product you are trying to install. ===============================================================================
With 9.1 the error was identical.
Thanks again for your help on this problem.

Two more bits of information, I'm on Ubuntu, and I notice that the installation files are RPM's. Is that a problem?
Also I'm using a 64bit OS - this shouldn't be a problem for 10.0 because I downloaded the Intel64 version, but there wasn't a similar option for 9.1, just wanted to make sure that wasn't the problem.

Also,
I've tried running ./chklic.em64t and it seems to be working . For example, when I run
chklic.em64t -c/opt/intel/licenses/NCOM_L_CMP_FOR_****-******FB.lic
I get :

Hi - thanks for you response - I have seen that post before actually, and I have followed all those steps (installing the additional libraries, etc.) Unfortunately this doesn't help me in installing 9.1 or 10.0.

Can you cut and paste the output of all steps you see while installing the compiler? [Please rename the license file name, serial numberand also the last line of the license file, if they are listed in your output.] Also send us the output you see while you run the gcc and g++ command. Send us the complete OS name including versions.

I am going to pass this information to our Install Engineers, and I will update you as soon as I hear from them. Since some of them work from different time zones, the response could be delayed.
One last question - Are you using a machine withIntel processor?
Thanks
