More details on Floating licence for Intel FORTRAN on Windows

Anyone know what actually invokes and releases the licence use?

For example, if I a have integrated Intel FOTRAN and Visual Studio 2008 am I consuming a licence whilst debugging, or does the licence only get consumed when I do a compilation?

When I *do* compile, at one point is the licence released?

I can't see a floating licence option for IMSL anyone know any different?

[ I have 3 regular and 2 occasional developers, trying to figure out what most effective purchase is...]

Hi chrissn,

Intel compiler checks out an available license only when compilation starts. Once compilation is done, the license will be released.

I'm not sure if a floating license is available for IMSL. I'll look into further and will get back to you later.

A slight variation that might also be of interest to us is if only one machine can compile with IMSL, but we have a floating FORTRAN licence for several machines (the point being that it is cost-effective to buy IMSL bundled with FORTRAN, but maybe only one person is using IMSLwhereas we want FORTRAN to float).

Of course if the IMSL floating licence exists and is cheap anyway then it might be easier to let everyone have access.
