Parallel Amplfier - Result Does not contain data?

We are using Parallel Amplifier's hotspot tool to check for hotspots in our program. It was working fine yesterday, but today when I start the test, run the program, and then quit the program, it will fail when finalizing the data. There error message says "The result you are opening does not contain data. An error could have occurred during data collection." Please let me know if there is any other information or data files you need from me.

Also, I tried Update 2 and that did not help the problem.

I have since uninstalled the program and reinstalled, but the problem is still the same.

I also did a search for this error message and 2 results came up, but when I clicked on them, it came up as a blank page.

Thank you.

Just try to collect data again.

(Make sure that the option 'Start data collection paused' is off in the Amplifier Project properties).

Does the collection work fine on the demo apps?

I have tried running the data collection again, but I get the same results.

I could not find the option you mention in the Options. I went to Tools->Options in Visual Studio then Intel Parallel Amplfier.

I did up the amount of data to be collected from 10 MB to 100 MB.

It doesn't seem to be paused though, because I can still click the Pause button while it is running, and when I do, the pause button greys out and the "Continue" button lights up.

I haven't tried the demo apps yet.

What would cause it to not collect data. Like I said, it was working, and then something changed and it stopped.

Has this problem been solved? I am getting the same error now every time I try to collect hot spot data. It was working fine a day ago. I have tried the advice already given so far and it makes no difference. Also it seems to work fine on the demo app.

One thing that comes to mind is that our program has been crashing on shutdown. I'm not sure how this would affect data collection, though I have not seen any notification of a crash when using the profiler.

Any new information?

EDIT: It seems the output window has some information: Warning: Cannot load data file `Z:\%path%\My Amplifier Results\r010hs\data.0\3620-512.0.trace' (Failed to create trace reader factory!)
Finalizing the result took 0.613 seconds

Also, we are using Alienbrain for source control but the "My Amplifier Results" directory is not on the server and should not be affected by Alienbrain. Upon inspection it seems none of the Amplifier files are read-only.

Hope this helps.

No, this problem is not solved.

My project is read-only and there is usually a message about that, but I used to get that message when it was working too, so I'm not really sure it's related.

If you find anything out, please post what you find. Thanks.
