Post Firmware Pre OS

How can I write an application that will run after the firmware but before the OSsuch as a diagnostic application. I am new to this so please bear with me. I want to start writing some code that is processor specific. I currently am a .NET developer and want to start something new.

Our engineering contacts recommend that you look at http://www.xensource.com/, which is a hypervisorthat performs the functions you describe. Since it is open-source,you can lookat the code and gain some understanding from that. (Of course, ifyou useany of the code,you will need to makeyour work open-source also.)
Beyond that, the recommendation from our engineering teamis that you consult the IA-32 Intel Architecture Software Developers Manuals posted at http://developer.intel.com/design/Pentium4/documentation.htm.Please feel free to send us any questionsyou have while reviewing this documentation.
