There is a new, longer range, slimmer form factor sensor from Intel, namely R200.
I want to know if it supports hand tracking too?
is it good for mounting on head-mounted device like Oculus Rift?
Because the spec says it is designed for outward facing, so I suspect that it will be good, hope I am not wrong.

I believe that I read that both cameras use the same SDK software, so I would hope that the same functions were accessible in both. It would be good if this is the case, as I want to produce a version of my app for the mobile tablet where the on-screen avatar is controlled by reaching a hand round the back of the tablet and moving it in front of the camera, like using the touch-pad control on the back of a PlayStation Vita handheld games console.
Edit: this post provides a bit more information.

The feature set and intended usages for the R200 are mostly different than for the F200. The R200 will provide Enhanced Photography, Scene Perception, 3D scanning/modeling and face tracking. Some feature 'parity' with the F200 may occur over time, remember the R2 release for F200 is only an alpha release for R200. You can figure out more by reading thru the SDK documentation and seeing which samples are front vs rear vs both.
