Software Development Suite Student Edition vs. Palallel Studio Student?

Hello!
I don't know if this is the right forum for my question but I'll give it a try. I'm thinking about getting a copy of the Intel Software Development Suite (Student Edition) for Windows and I wonder myself what's exactly the difference between this and Parallel Studio. Does the Development Suite include features of Parallel Studio or do I "need" both? Sorry if this is a stupid question :(
Thanks in advance.

Hello and thank you for your questions. Intel Parallel Studio is a plug-in to Visual Studio and includes several tools (Advisor, Composer (compiler), Amplifier, and Inspector). The student suite for Windows includes all but Advisor but also contains some some tools for optimization of clusters and Intel MPI. The compiler for either needs the IDE but Amplifier & Inspector can run independent of the IDE when purchased as part of the Student Suite for Windows.

If you have more questions please send them to academicdevelopersinfo@intel.com

Regards,
Greg

Hello,

I've moved this to the Intel Parallel Studio forum so one of our Technical Consulting Engineers can answer your question.

The Intel Parallel Studio 2011 and Intel Parallel Studio 2011 XEsupersede the older Intel Software Development Suite for Windows*. Below is the mapping between the old and new products.

Intel Compiler Suite Professional Edition ----> Intel Composer XE
Intel C++ Compiler Professional Edition ----> Intel C++ Composer XE
Intel Cluster Toolkit Compiler Edition ----> Intel Cluster Studio
Intel Visual Fortran Compiler Professional Edition ----> Intel Visual Fortran Composer XE
Intel Fortran Compiler Professional Edition ----> Intel Fortran Composer XE
Intel VTune Performance Analyzer (including Intel Thread Profiler) ----> Intel VTune Amplifier XE
Intel Thread Checker ----> Intel Inspector XE

The Parallel Studio 2011 product includes Parallel Composer, Intel ParallelAmplifier, and Intel Parallel Inspector.

So I guess Parallel Studio would be sufficient for me (and it's cheaper too). Thanks a lot!
I just wondered myself why the price between both editions is so different...
