Can someone tell me the difference between "Go" Stepping and "B3" Stepping?

The question doesn't make sense out of context. Supposing you are talking about CPU versions, stepping A0 typically is a first pre-production version, which may or may not be adequately functional. In the current case, Barcelona stepping B1 is the first revision sufficiently functional for sale. Whether you might also call it a "Go" is your call, as I haven't seen that term used to any extent. Additional steppings may come out in future months, if you are interested in that guessing game.

I am looking at purchasing the following:

Intel Core 2 Quad Quad Core 6600 2.40GHz 4MB x2 Cache Socket LGA775 CPU, 1066MHz FSB, 2 x Dual Core On Die, 65nm, 105W, 4MB L2 Cache x 2, Retail Box CPU. Part#: BX80562Q6600

"Go" Stepping Part#:BX80562Q6600SLARC

"B3" Stepping Part#: BX80562Q6600SL9UM

Both are the same price. So what you are saying The B3 is a later revision and probably more reliable.

Thanks for your quick response!!!

Differences among Core 2 QuAD CPUs have to do with the CPU clock speed and FSB speed ratings. Higher speeds or lower power at the same price would represent better value.

The B3 is a later revision and probably more reliable.

Who ever said this is selling you a bridge... The G0 (not go but g0) is the NEW stepping called SLACR (not SLARC as some sites erroneously have called it). It runs with a lower wattage than it's older brother and some even claim it is a much better overclocker.

I registered into this forum, specifically to correct this misunderstanding. PLEASE visit Intel website for specs direct from the source...

Thanks for clearing this up. I just want to by the best CPU while I am spending the money. I have visited Intel website, that is how I wound up here. They need to have some kind of matrix that explains revisions and types CPU's in chronological oder to helps us less technical people who know more then enough to make us dangerous.
