VT-x and VT-d Dependency

Can any one let me know How much is VT-d isolated from VT-x ? and In What Way?

VT-x is a processor feature and VT-d is a chipset feature. They are independent.

Then again, you usually use VT-d to avoid VM exits that are caused by VT-x. So this and other usage scenarios connect them in practice.

Forgot to add that a nice place to look for technical info on VT-x and VT-d is an older issue of the Intel Technology Journal. It showcases Intel Virtualization with a number of articles.
