Hi
I have been trying to persevere with the latest version 1826 and I don't know what you have done, but you have killed the performance.
It is so slow to save, design, update, emulate etc to the point where it is almost unusable. I run this on a Macbook Air i7 with 8GB of RAM and Yosemite 10.10.2 and it is driving me crazy.

Hello Nick,
Can you highlight in which part of your development you are facing problem?

Hi Amrita
The whole development process slows over time and the only way to get performance back is to restart XDK.
The GUI becomes very laggy when switching between pages and between code view and design view.
Selecting objects to set properties can take 10 seconds or more before the properties are available.
Dropping new controls onto a page can take a similar amount of time before it appears and can be modified.
The selection of a page to edit slows to a crawl as the page list is refreshed, especially after adding a new page.
Restarting XDK seems to be the only fix at the moment.
Thanks
Nick

By the way, what are the system requirements to run intel xdk? because I've got the same problem as Nick.

Hello Nick/Sergio/George,
First off, I would suggest uninstalling XDK completely and re-installing the latest version. A new version is out today.
Next, Please provide some more details so we can look into the issue.
1) Are you using App Designer? Which framework did you select when creating a project?
2) What is your typical app like?
3) Are you creating single page app or multipage app?
4) How much do you use XDK before you see the degraded performance?
5) Are you using any of emulator/Test/Debug tabs before you see the the slow performance?
6) Please check your Activity Monitor and see which process is taking more CPU and let me know.
If the performance issue is very predictable and if you could write the exact steps that will help greatly.
Thanks,
Swati

I'll see how it goes, I have already installed the latest version.
One issue I do have that started with a previous version is that adding a new page causes a duplicate to show in the page list for no apparent reason. The annoying thing is when adding a new page the dialog does not know which page you have selected so you have to type the name in from scratch for example if I add a new page 14 and select that page to add a subpage, when I select add subpage it assumes I still want a page 15.
I have attached a screen grab to show how the pages are listed you will see page 8 and page 3 have duplicate sub pages even though those pages appear under their respective main pages. I wonder if this is affecting performance. I cannot delete them without deleting the actual sub_page.

About your questions (bootstrapp, multipage app), the main problem is the App Designer. However, the new version (1878) seems to be a bit faster.

The latest 1878 seems a lot slower to me and crashes a lot more. It gets stuck on the loading screen sometimes and doesn't start up at all.
I'm going to try completely uninstalling and installing again. Would you recommend removing all the project settings or can i leave those?

Hi Gary,
I strongly suggest you take a look at this question on our Intel XDK FAQs: 'How do I try to recover when Intel XDK won't start or hangs?' and can be found at: https://software.intel.com/en-us/xdk/faqs/general#XDK-recovery
If you have the time, please try the solutions there and see if they work for you.
