Anyone know, has VF 6.1a been tested with Visual Studio Service Pack 5?

Service Pack 5? Where did THAT come from? Usually we find out about these SPs in advance, but not this time. We'll test it ASAP - I recommend NOT installing until we do.

Steve,
Any further news about this service pack? I have ordered the CD but don't plan to install it until Compaq blesses its compatibility with CVF.

It turns out that we did know about this in advance and did test it. Just nobody told ME! It should look like SP4 as far as CVF is concerned.

Are there any special procedures to follow when installing this service pack? Do I need to reinstall any CVF components after I install SP5?

Not that I know of. If you already had SP4 and applied our "SP4 fix", you should be all set. I suppose I'd recommend running Per-User Setup again after the SP install, but that's just to cover all the bases.

I ran Per-User Setup after installing VS SP 5 and got a dialog box displaying the following error followed by an OK button:
?Can't open DS key: HKLMSOFTWAREMicrosoftDevStudio6.5Build SystemComponentsPlatformsWin32 (x86)Directories
Error was: 0x583 (1411.)
What does this mean?

It means that you're missing a registry entry that the 6.5 upgrade was supposed to add. I know I did in later revisions to the 6.5 upgrade, but if you got one early, it would have missed this.
Save the following as DS.REG and double-click on it, then run Per-User Setup again:
I had thought the 6.5A update fixed this up as well, but it seems not. I'll get it for the next one. Sorry for the inconvenience.
