Some regression in the WMV9 acceleration code has been introduced in v15.9 drivers. Some WMV clips contain sparkling dots all over the video:
7.15.10.1472 (v15.9) dated 04/25/2008 :

7.14.10.15043 (v15.8.3) dated 06/27/2008 (and driver revisions before):

. sample video download
. System: Vista SP1 32-Bit
. Chipset: GM965 with 2GB memory
. igfxcfg.exe Video preferences : all to default (and changing them doesn't make a difference)
Microsoft Demo WMV9 clips do not show this behavior. And one vid I tested from WMVHD showcase also doesn't.
@users with different chipsets such as G31, G33, G35, Q33, Q35, G965, Q965 und Q963
