What collateral/documentation do you want to see?

Do you have questions that you are not finding the answers for in our documentation?  Need more training, source code examples, on what specifically?   Help us understand what's missing so that we can make sure we develop documentation you care about (what is important, and what is nice to have)!   Thank you

Although I haven't seen any updates for a long time, the expectation has been that only the offload mode of operation would be supported in Windows.  This should include the ability to offload from a Windows host to a stand-alone KNL as well as a PCI KNL, although I haven't seen any details.  Lack of MPI support between KNL linux and host Windows would seem to limit usage.

The main news about KNL seems to be the release of both Intel and gnu compilers (and emulators) with options to target KNL.

I suppose Intel is gearing up for some publicity in November at the supercomputer show.

The best place to look for updates about KNL is What public disclosures has Intel made about Knights Landing? Although the date at the top says November 25, 2014, the page was actually update only a few weeks ago.

As far as supported operating systems are concerned, there hasn't been any official announcement yet. I wouldn't take as pessimistic a view point as Tim but I couldn't tell you what or when for any particular operating system. I wouldn't even hazard a guess.

(2) Documentation of the physical address to distributed tag directory hash.

That is not available even to those of us inside Intel :-). However it's also not as helpful as you would hope, since it clearly has to be different for each SKU that has different numbers of cores, so your code would need to know every possible SKU and have a different algorithm for each.

If you want to play with the optimization you are proposing, a better approach is to lock a page, and then measure the latencies of each of the cache lines for the point-to-point path you're interested in. That can be done relatively fast and is impervious to SKU changes.

Amr, I would recommend Rezaur Rahman's book Intel Xeon Phi Coprocessor Architecture and Tools: The Guide for Application Developers or the Colfax book by Andrey Vladimirov and Ryo Asai Parallel Programming and Optimization with Intel Xeon Phi Coprocessors. As far as online information, the best would be Intel® Xeon Phi™ Coprocessor Software Developer’s Guide and I can see why a beginner might find that intimidating. We can look at how we might do better on that.

Xeon Phi x200 documentation issues:

  1. Volume 1 of the Xeon Phi x200 data sheet appears to be incorrectly labelled as "Intel Confidential".  It is publicly available via this link: https://www-ssl.intel.com/content/www/us/en/processors/xeon/xeon-phi-processor-x200-product-family-datasheet.html
  2. Volume 2 of the Xeon Phi x200 data sheet does not appear to exist yet?  It would be nice to have this one....
  3. The Xeon Phi x200 Thermal/Mechanical Specification and Design Guide appears to be incorrectly labeled as "Intel Confidential".  It is publicly available via this link: https://www-ssl.intel.com/content/www/us/en/processors/xeon/xeon-phi-processor-design-guide.html

One of the attractions of the PHI is not having to get too close to the metal (we gave up on converting our code to a GPU) and Intel has been using that compatibility to sell the concept of the PHI.  Most scientific code is constantly changing and we scientists would like to do more science and less programming.  Fortran is more accomodating to heavy computer users who don't want to be full-time coders.

So far I think that the sole mic_host mic_card modules along with the sample MPSSD and MICCTRL is not enough
the card uos.img has to be ajusted. I amcurrently trying to use the same Kernel version as the host but it does not come up.

I do not need SCIF as I only have one MIC and do not need more communication.

@Belinda: I'd like to know possible configurations to use Intel Xeon Phi coprocessors connected to laptops through Thunderbolt 2/3 to PCIe expansion boxes. There is a thread on this forum about this issue: https://software.intel.com/en-us/forums/intel-many-integrated-core/topic/719921

I do believe it would be great if Intel can provide details about Thunderbolt 2/3 to PCIe expansion boxes that are compatible with Intel Xeon Phi coprocessors. In 2017, it is important to work with laptops and most high-end laptops provide Thunderbolt ports. I do believe this information would make it easy for many developers that work with laptops to be able to work with Intel Xeon Phi. I do believe Intel has all the necessary resources to make the necessary tests and provide hardware compatibility lists.

I'm well aware you won't have the best performance in laptops compared to dedicated workstations or servers. However, it would be great to use them to make it easier to develop code and run tests.

Collateral Documents. Also known as security documents. The loan documents a secured loan transaction which secure the borrower's obligations to the lender under the loan agreement. If you want to have a career in IT sector, Cisco Certificate is a must have.
