gma 950 and panasonic th-37pv70

hi everybody,

I am having an mce system with an intel gma 950 connected to an panasonic th-37pv70, plasma, but within 720p screen size doens`t fit.
Can someone help me with eding the inf. file for the right resolutions???

Your TV is asking for

1280x720" 74,250 1280 1720 1760 1980 720 741 746 750 +hsync +vsync

but it's scaling everything it gets at that resolution to its native resolution (1024x768). You might be able to change to1024x768 and get everything to look correct on screen, but some TVs don't accept their native resolution over HDMI.

You said in the other thread that 1080p looked okay, right? Why not use that?

The other option is to take the timings that are given for 1280x720 and make an underscanned resolution which will fill your screen and keep the toolbar useful. Let me know if you want help doing that.

thanks for the info, and yes can you help me with the underscan resolution settings???
At 1080 is also not okay, i lose 20 % of the screen.

When i change tthe resolution in the gma 950 to 1024 * 768 i get a smal screen in a big black window.

I have tried powerstrip but when i change the size of the screen with the markers up/down, i get a black sreen.

So far no luck, and of course i can use dvi>vga but i want to get it right in hdmi (no lost of converting)

Okay. Here's what I'll suggest you do: choose whichever resolution you're having better luck with (720p or 1080p).

Since you already have Powerstrip installed, go to Display Profiles | Configure | Advanced Timing Options | Custom Resolutions. Check the "Lock Total Geometry" box and then use the "Design a Custom Resolution" button (looks like a draftsmen's square next to the clipboard buttons).

Follow the instructions to make the box fit your screen. When done, click the "Copy to Clipboard" button. Paste the results here and I'll help you convert that information into something to plug into your .INF file which hopefully (with a little tweaking) should provide you with a better screen.

Try that in the DTD_1 field of your .INF (comma delimited), along with TotalDTDCount = 1.

Alternatively, instead of reinstalling the drivers, edit your registry values of DTD_1 and TotalDTDCount. There are several, so keep hitting Search until there are no more.

Image may still show up shifted. Let me know which direction and we'll try to dial it in.

BTW, once you've used Powerstrip to determine the resolution you want, I recommend shutting it off and ensuring it doesn't come back up at boot time. It can play havoc with your custom resolution and even prevent it from coming up in the first place.

Sorry, I assumed since it's a Euro model TV you wanted 50 Hz. You'll have to do the whole Powerstrip thing over again with the original 60Hz 1280x720 resolution (with overscan) selected and do the whole "stretch the box to fit the screen" thing again.

I'll give you a different DTD to get that new one at 60 Hz.

You can keep both 50 Hz and 60 Hz by leaving DTD_1 alone and putting

into DTD_2 and changing TotalDTDCount to "2". That way if you get some PAL 25fps or 50 Hz content you can optimize your display settings for it.

Wow, an odd-number of scan lines. While it will probably work, I've gotta think it's gonna introduce scaling artifacts. As long as 687 works to your satisfaction you should be fine with keeping it, but if it looks funny to you I suggest trying 688 lines just to make things even:

how can you translate the output from powerstrip into those strings?
I mean, I have a similar problem here with a GMA950 integrated in a mac mini and a pioneer plasma tv and I'd like to have the correct output on screen...
If it does not bother you, I can look the report by Powerstrip tonight, but I can also try this myself if you prefer...
