Split screen in Brackets editor doesn't seem to be working in 2496 running on a mac.
Split screen works in stand alone Brackets.

It should work. Are you not seeing the split?

When I try it, it splits the screen, but the second view is always empty. Any attempts to open a new file in the new view end up opening it in the first view.
Is that the same as the problem you're seeing?

I've opened an issue on the problem I'm seeing. Please let me know if you're seeing something different so we can investigate.
Thanks!

Dale,
That's exactly the problem; screen splits, but you can't open a file in it. If you open a file, it replaces the file in the first split. BTW, this works fine in standalone Brackets.
Thanks.

Yes, it worked in older versions of XDK as well, I'll update here when we get a fix for it, or if we find a workaround.
Sorry for the trouble.

There is a trick:
- split the screen
- look the left panel: there is two parts: left and right (or top and bottom)
- drag&drop the open file to the desired part on the left panel
The empty panel will be used.
It is working very well.

Cool, thanks for the workaround. Also I found that if I open the file from the file menu (and I'm focused on the new pane) that works as well. It's just the opening the file on the sidebar that's not working (unfortunately the most common case, at least for me).
Thanks!

FYI - It does work clicking from the sidebar if you click back and forth a few times - back and forth from the blank split part to the file tree. As far as I can tell, that is a Brackets issue - it works the same in stand alone Brackets for me.
