I recently bought a barebones Intel NUC X15 laptop kit, model type LAPAC71H. When searching for a suitable M.2 PCIe SSD for the kit, I came across one that had heatsink on it. Due to most people mentioning temperature as one of the X15's issues, I figured buying an SSD with heatsink would help at least not add to the problem. It was only later on where I considered this might be an issue, and read the dimensions of the drive as being 9.8mm thick. When compared to the 22.2mm thickness of the kit, this seemed like a bit much.
The SSD is still on it's way and I'm planning on returning it when it gets to me, but I would like to know direct from here up to what thickness are M.2 drives compatible with the X15? I'm aware of a list of drives that are tested as compatible on the site here:
But with that said, I have no clue if these compatible devices have stretched across the entire range of what can be put in the X15, or if thicker drives can be put in.
One of the drives listed, the Samsung PCIe Gen.4 980 Pro 1TB (Model no. MZ-V8P1T0B/AM), according to the official website is listed as being 0.87" thick, though this must be a typo as that is as thick as the laptop, and I think I saw it listed elsewhere as being around 2.35mm thick:
And besides, it should be the shape and size of a strip of gum, rather than a cheese stick.
TLDR: I've researched a whole bunch but can't find the max storage thickness that can be put in the X15 without damaging any of the components. Would like an answer soon, thanks for your help if you can.
Also I hope I sent this in the right forum, not many of the sub-categories seemed to fit.

Hello ashtoncartner,
We have confirmed from our engineering team that an SSD with a Heatsink will not fit into this laptop. The LAPAC71H D cover was integrated with SSD Heat dissipation. Normal SSD will be fit for it. Please check the attached sample photo.
Feel free to let me know if you have questions or need clarification.
Best regards,
Jeanette C.
