Is it possible to use RAPL interfaces on Xeon E3 1200 (v2, v3) processors?

Hi all,

I'm finding RAPL interface enabled processors which support energy (power) counter reading and limiting the power.

I used Xeon E5 2650 processor based machine before and heard that Sandybrige EP/E above microarchitecture supports the RAPL interfaces.

Any processors above Sandybridge EP/E microarchitecture support RAPL interfaces? (eg. Ivybridge, haswell)

Or, only specific processor family supports the interfaces? (Now, I'm targeting the Xeon E3 1200 v2, v3 processors)

I've found data sheet and processors manuals, but I can't find the related feature and information.

Anyone who knows about this?

Thanks

Hello Jaeyoung,

So far, all Sandybridge, Ivybridge and Haswell processors support the RAPL MSRs (Model Specific Registers). However, the RAPL MSRs have not been specified as architectural so support may change in the future.
