BE201 Code 10 Yellow Exclamation Mark Problem on Windows

On systems powered by Intel Ultra 285H processor, Wi‑Fi modules AX211 and BE200 operate without issues. However, the BE201 encounters a yellow exclamation‑mark error (Code 10) in Windows Device Manager.

CNVio3 does not have any PCIe fallback. Whenever CNVio3 STEP communication fails, the module directly fails to initialize (Code 10). Is this related to the absence of an alternate channel?

The WiFi yellow exclamation mark issue occurs intermittently; Bluetooth functions normally. Moreover, boot‑up becomes slow when using the BE201 network adapter. After setting CNVi Mode = Disable, the normal boot‑up speed is restored.

Thanks for the additional information. The intermittent Code 10, normal Bluetooth operation, and the change in boot behavior when CNVi is disabled are useful details.


There are two separate points to consider here.


First, regarding system integration and regulatory approval: Intel wireless adapters are not universally interchangeable between systems. Depending on the country, the wireless adapter may need to be certified together with the intended antenna, or the wireless configuration may need to be certified at the complete-system level. Therefore, the fact that a particular Intel wireless adapter works or is approved in one system does not automatically mean that the same adapter is approved for use in another system. The system manufacturer needs to determine whether the adapter and its configuration are approved for that specific system and country. Intel also notes that an independently integrated adapter may encounter hardware or software compatibility dependencies.


For the BE201 specifically, it uses a CNVio3 interface. Unlike a conventional PCIe wireless adapter, CNVio relies on the Intel platform for part of the connectivity functionality. The BE201 therefore requires a compatible platform implementation and proper initialization/communication between the module and the host platform. Intel's BE201 documentation identifies its M.2 connector interface as CNVio3.

This makes the platform behavior you observed relevant. A Code 10 during initialization, while Bluetooth continues to work, can indicate that the Wi-Fi portion of the module is not completing initialization with the platform. However, the information provided so far is not enough to determine the exact cause.

Since the system is based on an Intel Core Ultra 9 285H platform and the BE201 configuration is showing this behavior, I recommend working with the system manufacturer/OEM to verify that the BE201 is supported and validated for that specific system configuration, including the BIOS/firmware and CNVio3 implementation.

The fact that AX211 and BE200 work on the same platform is useful for comparison, but it does not by itself establish BE201 support for that system.
