The bluetooth driver for my AC-7260 just disappeared (on Thinkpad X1 Carbon/Windows 10). I do see a USB device for which the device descriptor failed with error 43. At this point I have no bluetooth support, and no troubleshooting steps have made any difference. Suggestions?
As we understand, the Bluetooth component of your Intel® Dual Band Wireless AC 7260 shows in Device Manager as Unknown USB Device (Device descriptor Request failed ) Code 43.
The first thing you can try is to install thehttps://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/25135/Intel-PROSet-Wireless-Software-for-Bluetooth-technol... Intel® PROSet/Wireless Software for Bluetooth® technology for Windows 10* 64-bit (WP), version 17.1.1529.1613.
Our initial research about this issue shows that there are different reasons for this type of behavior, so we will need additional information. If the issue persists, let us know the following details:
Was this adapter the one that came installed from factory in the PC?
Did Bluetooth* ever work fine since you upgraded to Windows* 10?
When did the issue start?
Are you aware of any event or change that may have triggered this condition?
What other actions have you attempted so far?
Here are answers to your questions.
- The adapter is the one that came installed in the machine from the factory.
- Bluetooth seemed to work fine for several weeks after the upgrade.
- The issue started on Thurs., 9/10.
- A recent Windows 10 cumulative update was installed.
- I went to the Microsoft answer desk, and they went through a series of steps that brought the driver back.
Since then, it has been mostly working fine, but I've noticed that the network card--both WiFi and Bluetooth--will begin to act flaky after the machine resumes from sleep. The network card loses its WiFi connection, and this can be corrected by connecting to another hotspot, then back. Also, the Bluetooth mouse will work for a little while, then stop. The driver shows that it has stopped because it reported an error. If I restart the machine, things seem to go back to normal.
In this case, we recommend you to update the Wireless and Bluetooth* drivers for your Intel® Dual Band Wireless AC 7260. You can obtain the current versions at the following location:

That is the Bluetooth driver that is currently installed. (BTW, it died on me briefly yesterday. A restart seemed to cure it.) I have just updated the Wireless driver to the version you proposed. We'll see what happens. Thanks!
